SIDING
Siding repair and replacement in Yakima and Naches
Vinyl panels crack, warp and melt in ways the sales pitch skips. We repair them honestly, and we install wood, metal and composite when vinyl is the wrong wall for your house.
Chapter 01
Where vinyl siding actually breaks
Vinyl is sold as affordable and low maintenance, and on the day it goes up that is fair. What the upfront pitch leaves out is how it fails. Breaks in the panels and trim are very common. A weed eater is the usual culprit low on the wall. A mower throws yard debris into it, hail cracks it, and kids playing catch finish the job.
Heat is the other killer. A neighbour's window can throw a reflection that works like a magnifier and walks a hot spot along your wall all afternoon, warping the panels as it goes. A BBQ parked too close does the same thing faster, and a fire at the house next door can melt a wall outright. None of that is rare in a valley with tight lots and a lot of summer sun.
Then there is paint. Vinyl never needs painting, until you want a different colour. Go darker than the original and the panel absorbs more heat, then it warps and bows. If a repaint is on your list, it has to be a lighter shade. And no matter what, the seams are visible. You can see every lap, because that is how the product is hung.

Vinyl siding panel repair on a Yakima Valley house
How we repair a wall before we talk about replacing it
We start by looking at the whole wall, not just the one broken panel you pointed at. Cracked panels and trim get found, but so do the ones that are already warping from heat, the ones that have popped loose, and the spots where water has been getting behind the siding. Where we notice something bigger than you called about, we document it and show you pictures with our recommendation.
A damaged panel is unlocked, removed and replaced rather than patched over. Trim breaks are handled the same way. If the repair is minor, it stays a repair. We do not use the siding call to sell you a whole new wall, and the free siding estimate does not come with pressure.
When the wall is past repair, or the owner is done with vinyl's habits, we talk through the other three options below. The point is a wall that fits your house, your yard and your neighbours' windows, not the one with the biggest ticket.
Chapter 03
After the siding is done: keeping water out of the wall
Siding is the layer that sheds weather, and it sits right under the roof edge. Our own maintenance advice is that caulking will eventually fail and must be inspected every so often, and that paint slows the breakdown of siding and trim by protecting the wood from sun and moisture. A once-a-year walk around the house catches most trouble while it is still small.
Keep trimmers and mowers away from the base of the wall, move the grill out from under the eave, and tell us if a new reflection or a new fence changes how the sun hits the house. If something does crack, a quick repair is cheap compared with water getting behind the wall.

Siding options, side by side
Four walls to choose from, and what each one asks of you
Wood, metal and composite can all be painted or ordered in a custom colour. Here is the plain version of each, so you can pick the one that matches how you live on your property. If you want to see the rest of what we build, start at the services overview or ask us about your wall on the contact page.

- WoodReal wood siding looks right on an older Yakima Valley house and takes paint well. The price of that is upkeep. Paint is what shields the wood from sun and moisture, and the caulk at trim and corners fails on its own schedule, so it has to be looked at and replaced before water finds the gap.
- MetalMetal siding does not rot and does not care about a weed eater. The trade-off is that a dent stays a dent, so it fits best where the wall is exposed to wind and hail more than to bumps. Colours come from the factory finish.
- CompositeComposite siding is made to be painted or to come in a set colour, and it is built to hold a shape where vinyl would bow. It is the option we reach for when a customer wants a wall that looks like wood and does not ask for wood's maintenance.
- Vinyl (repair)We repair vinyl. We will not tell you it is a bad choice if you already own it. We just want you to know every weak point listed above before you pay for it twice, and we will swap a broken panel or trim piece without selling you a new wall.
